Human (Armengarian)

Midir had wanted the gifts of healing since he was a child. During a training session he managed to bandage successfully one of the other children after he was speared through the leg. After that incident he took the sap of the Wishing Tree which awoke his connection to the Plane of Life. After that he split his time between war school and the Wishing Tree.

When the Farseekers arrived Midir was 18, had already sired a child and was well regarded by the healers of Armengar. He took a liking to these outsiders and was assigned as part of the Armengarian Gaurd that protected the Farseekers when they first arrived, and made sure they were trustworthy. It was here that Midir first saw Spellcasting. Only a few years later Incantation magic appeared amongst a small group of Armengarians which was hailed as a miracle. Some of the first to be given the gift took ill and Midir helped ease their pain. They recovered soon enough and were instrumental in stopping the Incantors that had appeared amongst the Calebii. It was around this time that Midir's first child was killed in an accident at the Training Camp, and his wife was killed by the Calebii.

In 1098 the Ard Healer Setanta died in a skirmish against the Calebii and Midir stepped into the role. Although mostly a ceremonial position, Midir was proud to be recognised by the other healers for the task. Also during this time Midir fathered another two children.

During the events of the Holy Isle landfall, Midir lost his daughter to an unliving creature summoned by the Calebii and his son to the tidal wave caused by the Lions arrival. Unable to help his daughter who lay dead in his hands, Midir vowed to find a way to extend his knowledge of healing magic to include bringing people back to life. Knowing that it may well be impossible the loss of his children kept this goal in his mind as he journeyed to the outside world.
