Anocht Talthor was born into a typical Armengarian family in 1084. Her family was primarily farmers, providing grain for the bread that kept the Citadel alive. But as everyone in Armengar has some way to defend him or herself, her parents began her training in the military arts. Her father, Alsandair, was an accomplished archer, and carved her a bow for her fourth birthday. She adored it and began using it straight away, despite the fact it was as tall as she was. Her father did his best to teach her archery, but his hand had been severely damaged in a Calebii years before, so the training was slow. While she may not have been trained as fast as others, the long days of bow work with her father paid off in another way. As everything took longer to do, she learnt things easier and everyday she would accomplish something new perfectly. But her mother, Keena, wasn't to be left out of the training. A powerful mage, having learned quickly ffrom Madra, she sensed latent power in her small daughter, and began to try and unlock this mage craft. Frustratingly, nothing she tried would work. While there was definitely power present, she was unable to manifest any abilities. As a result, Anocht grew tired of mage training, and less patient with her mother's constant attempts to have her succeed in that field. The archer in her was her first and only love, so eventually she forsook the entire mage world and started archery with twice the effort. Keena was very upset, and angry that her daughter was ignoring such and untapped well of power, but too impatient to continue trying. Her skill with the bow over the years improved dramatically. By the age of 10, she was a crack shot, rarely missing a target, and if she did, she didn't miss twice. Her father couldn't be anymore proud. Her mother however, was gravely resentful. She saw her daughter's excelling in bowman ship as a waste of time compared to her apparent magical ability. So she delved deeper into magical study, trying to find the key to Anocht's power. When Incantation was discovered in 1095, Keena thought she'd found the answer. Her daughter had great favour from an ancestor, and her latent abilities were to be found there. But as she dug deeper, she found the secrets of Dark Incantation. She grew obsessed with them, trying to find out if she could obtain these powers as well. When she found she could not, she grew greatly resentful of her daughter's abilities. So much power, yet all for an uninterested child. She took Anocht to the shore one day to a quiet spot, and asked her to share her power with her. Anocht was confused, but said she would if she could. Keena took this to be a refusal. She attacked he daughter, but in the moment of panic, Anocht called upon her latent abilities and blasted her mother into the sea. She drowned close to the shore. Anocht was distraught and collapsed. She wandered home, unable to deal with what happened. She was 11 at the time. After days of travel, she found herself at home. Alsandair sat in his usual chair by the fire, not looking at her, but knowing well what happened. He was found hanging by the neck the next morning. Anocht was therein a child of Armengar itself. She trained herself up in the camps, and was instructed in the arts of Incantation. She never said anything about her mother, nor was often asked about her father. In 1003, she married Diedrac Talthor, a warrior of Armengar, and had their first child, Solas. She has never been open with her families past, and few care to know. She has fought for Armengar on many occasions, and has therefore proven herself. Now, she seeks to find the truth of he powers and go where they will take her...
