History

Over the past ten years or so, numerous events have occured which have paved the way for where Armengar is now

1091
The Farseekers (Chareos, Madra, Amos, Rhyan) of the Lions faction arrive in Armengar. Their transport circle which should have taken them to the first Gathering of Nations malfunctions and instead takes them to the Armengarian Plateau. The Farseekers prove their worth in battle and slowly win the trust of the Armengarians. Madra begins teaching spellcasting, reading and writing.

1095
Incantation magic reappears in the world. Calebii incantors are used in battle against the Armengarians who reply with their own followers of the Ancestor Heramacles.

1097
Chareos is designated Protector of Armengar.

1098
Setanta, the Ard Slanaighear is killed while healing Corthar during an attack from the Calebii. Midir is voted as the new Ard Slanaighear by the healers of the Wishing Tree.

1101
Holy Isle falls from the sky and creates a huge tidal wave. The Calebii launch an all out attack on Armengar but are swept away by the wave. Armengarians discover ancient writings that reveal that their ancestors were placed on the isle of Amnor as prisoners. Fuildubh discovers the name of an ancient Protector Queen, Delalaria and starts to incant in her name.

The Calebii send ships to Amnor and begin rebuilding Dun nCaleb. Ships from the Lions arrive at Amnor and meet the Armengarians. Chareos, Madra and Midir travel to the Heartland Games by ship where they are greeted by the Lions. Taliesin the Farseeker is assigned as an ambassador by the Lions to the Armengarians. The Calebii and Lions discuss various diplomatic matters, Chareos urges the Lions to help remove the Calebii from Amnor.

At the Unicorns Moot Taliesin and Simon of the One help re-open the Ritual Circle inside the citadel of Armengar. The Transport Circle outside the citadel is also repowered.

After an explosion at the Ritual Circle in the Prefects Palace causes the more peaceful side of the Calebii government to come into power. The Calebii leave the shores of Amnor and leave behind a large statue commemorating the fallen of both the Calebii and of Armengar.

At the Gathering of Nations many Armengarians travel to see the outside world. A Peace Treaty is signed between the Lions, Calebii and Armengarians. Armengar votes to join the Lions faction for a year and a day. An invasion of Nosta Kar which threatens to end the world is stopped by the Lions and their allies. Many Armengarians fight bravely that day. The Armengarians are also noted for their excellent defence during gate duty.

Rua and Fuildubh bring Ritualist knowledge back to Armengar. The Lions agree to sending teachers, including Simon of the One, to help Armengar develop its magics.

During the Gathering a difference of opinion on whether to join the Lions faction causes friction. Many Isolationists are unhappy about the direction Armengar is heading and feel that by letting their defences down Armengar is becoming weak. The Integrationists worry that by breaking ties with the outside world, larger threats like the Nosta Kar could not be fought effectively.

In return for their help in removing the Calebii from Amnor, Chareos allows the Praetorians to set up a secret training ground on Amnor, far from the Plateau. The Scouts of Armengar are the only ones who know of it's existence.

Chareos steps down as Protector of Armengar due to his new duties within the Lions. He is declared High Protector, a title he will take while he trains his succesor, and Fraoch is voted by the Volksraad as the new Protector.

During explorations of the newly liberated island of Amnor, Madra discovers Coircre by the banks of Loch na Phuca.

1102

The Tribe arrive of Amnor at the invitation of Dalban. Discussions about using the mercenary company within Amnor commence.

Sionna returns to Armengar with the warrior Riki Vauban.

Shortly after Sionna's return a scout is killed on the walls of Armengar. Investigations into the Forests reveal strange creatures not at all friendly to those of Armengar.

The Tribe are allowed on Amnor, and allowed a camp off the Plateau. They are given the right to attend the Volksraad as observers and agree to defend Armengar if it is attacked. Members of the Tribe are forbidden from entering the central part of the Citadel. This agreement is to run for one year and a day, and until then the Tribe are considered honourary Armengarians.

It is revealed to the people of Armengar that the Praetorians have a base on Amnor. At a meeting of the Volksraad the people decide that Chareos acted wisely in allowing the base and agree with the Praetorians that they can live there paying a rent of 20 gold pieces a year.

Finn, an Armengarian, is killed in a bar brawl in the citadel involving some members of the Tribe. An investigation is started but goes nowhere. It is surmised that Felix, one who travelled with the Tribe, was responsible.

Creatures in the forest encountering Armengarians become hostile and seem to have some involvement with the Delalarians. The High Scout of Armengar Simeadrach is captured by the Forest Creatures.

At the first Moot Taliesin, Ambassador to Armengar from the Lions is killed by the Wild Hunt.

Corthar, Siege Master and Master Smith of Armengar is slain fighting Demons at the second moot.

Rumours start of a strange tower having appeared in the Praetorian camp.

Simeadrach returns from the forest having escaped the creatures there.

Alvar, a fae from the forest, comes to the Citadel with a strange quiet human, Caillte, who appears to be Armengarian. She does not speak but is revealed to have tremendous healing talent.

Falcor, a scout of Armengar, does not return from the Gathering of Nations. He is presumed dead after last being seen near a drow graveyard.

Several Armengarians resign from the military command structure and become the first civilians of Armengar.

The Treaty with the Lions is signed and Armengar officially becomes part of the Lions Faction.

The last Emperor of the Empire of Man invades Amnor with his unliving army, marching up out of the sea. Lower Amnor is lost. On that same night, Chareos is killed by Voor at the Lions Winter Parliament.

Fraoch is afforded emergency power by the Volksraad. His first step is to institute marshall law and abolish civilianship.

The positions of Pass Warden are given to Cluamhach, Dryden and Dalben.

Cosaint and Midir form a new Order of combat healers named for the fallen Chareos.

The Lions demonstrate their willingness to always aid their beleagured colleagues by offering a vast array of aid. Many Lions even go so far as to travel to Armengar to help fight the hordes, including Cedric the Bold and Mirririth.

Dryden is relieved of command for insubordination and banished. Bashu is sent to the box for refusing an order following on from Dryden's removal. Siryel is assigned as new commander at Sorrow's Pass.

Maya and Cluamhach wed - the first Tribe/Armengar wedding.

Dalben and Garret are named Paladins of Heramacles.

Joshrum's herald issues a twelve hour ultimatum to the people of Armengar. The children are evacuated within those twelve hours and then the ritual circle is shut down from afar by the Emperor.

1103

The Lions launch naval expeditions to restore communications with Armengar. The Legio Aquilae are brought within flight range so they can deliver Princess Alyssa to the island to help against the unliving. Meanwhile, Admiral Rhianna and the Shadow Fleet run the unliving blockade and set up a message relay.

Letters from the children on Holy Isle are received which seem to indicate that Felix has been poking around them.

The Lions send several fleets to Amnor to deliver supplies and reinforcements to their besieged allies. Several Armengarians leave with them to participate in the offensive on Tamerus and try to find a way of restoring the ritual circle.

Sorrows Pass falls and the Unliving take the plateau

On Tamerus, Felix kills Lir and mentally cripples Prince Mog.
The body of Chareos returns - shared by the pattern of Chareos and the Voor inhabitting him. He offers the Lions a deal; that the Voor will end hostilities if the Lions can find a way for them to pass on. The Elysium takes the Voor on to the next world after Cosaint kills Chareos to summon the ship to the next realms.
Rua enlists the aid of the Sirene, Reaver and Gwion to ritually reopen the Armengar ritual circle, adding it to the Lantian Ring in the place of the circle on Ceryphus.
Meanwhile back on Amnor, the Emperor continues his assault and beging to breach the outer wall.
The Lions send in a large amount of military support through the reopened circle, as many of the citizens of Lantia insist on going to the aid of their own.

At the Convocation of Guilds, representatives from the Guilds insist that they will only deal with the Empire if a ceasefire is called on Amnor. An uneasy peace develops.

At the Heartland Games, representatives from Armengar meet with the Emperor, but no accord is reached. Alvar and Ajax assault Verspatian, nearly restarting the war.
Also at the Games, Lions start to receive threatening and provocative letters from Felix.

At the Moot in Babylon, Armengarians are confronted by powerful creatures seeming to be Felix and Ruairi. It later emerges that they were clones made of what is known as WitchWeed.
Verspatian continues his diplomatic overtures towards Armengar, speaking mainly to Cosaint as he finds him in the Lions Command Tent. He promises to speak to the Armengarians later that weekend, but withdraws out of respect for the traumatic situation they find themselves in when Benedict Darkendale takes Holy Isle - where many of the Armengarian children still reside.

At the second Moot, an accord is reached with Benedict, which allows for the return of most of the Armengarians' children. Chluamhach's daughter is retained on a technicality.

At the Gathering of Nations, negotiations continue with the Empire.
Sr Bethanie brings Chluamhach's daughter back, freeing the Lions to act.
Armengarians aid the Lions in freeing most of Holy Isle.
As retaliation, Benedict assaults the Lions' camp, and in the fighting Fraoch is killed and raised again. He is later laid to rest by Gwion.
Verspatian demands a final answer, and a tentative agreement is reached whereby the Empire control most of Lower Amnor, but remove their troops. The Mercenary Alliance are hired to be their military presence.

As Eirlys' health deteriorates, Cosaint takes over as Lawkeeper.

Ajax is exiled for a year, for his assault on Dryden at the Gathering.

The Volksraad meet to elect a new Protector. Two candidates have the support of most of the populace - Cosaint and Caoimhe. Caoimhe wins by a narrow margin.

Cero fills the now vacant position of 1st Gan. Dalben becomes ArdScabht in Simeadrach's continued absence.

A new school is opened on Amnor by Debreni, who has come to treat the citadel as a second home. When she leaves to rest during her pregnancy, administration is taken over by the Lawkeeper. A new fae is found beneath the citadel. His origin is unknown, but he appears to share an affinity with the walls themselves.

Fae of unknown origin invade the training grounds. They refuse to answer questions, but attack on sight and are dispatched with difficulty. They carry with them a potent enchanted weapon.

Alvar returns from questing from the Wayward Flame, having by all reports found out something he shouldn't have.

At the Lions Parliament on Gallathrix, Felix appears once more - now leading a bewitched company of Prince Bishops Men. Along with Dace, he cheats the Lions of victory and steals the Bones of St. Cuthbert, which the Lions had only just retrieved.

Alvar makes a deal with the drow House Amroth, and purchases many slaves from them. The slaves are then set free, although many choose to stay on Amnor and work there.

An agreement is made with the Empire, and Imperial Engineers come to the island to try and fix the crack that appeared in the Wall of Armengar during the siege by the Empire.

1104

A Festival is held on Armengar, in the Temple of Heramacles. Rather dubiously prepared for, many guests are invited, including ones not noted as being allies.

Strange happenings abound that day. Several military banners are stolen by former drow slaves. Strange spirits appear to possess the temple and the Forsaken appear to want their sword back.

Heramacles is revealed to be a family name, and the history of Armengar is revealed to be a lie. Two ancestors, both Heramacles, appear in the Temple. One demands a return to the old ways, including the killing of ritualists and the expulsion of outsiders. He was the Heramacles who sold the armengarians into slavery, working as live training targets for the Calebii. The other Heramacles appears to be much nicer and is named "Armengar" by Fionnuala. She renames the Temple itself and stops refering to Heramacles by name.

Alvar is murdered, and the culprit is later discovered to have been Deatach, a delelarian healer. He is executed by Cosaint, acting as Lawkeeper. Brid, another delelarian healer, is suspected of being involved but declared innocent of any wrong doing. She leaves the island anyway. Coircre leaves the Citadel and disappears into the forest.

At the funeral of Alvar, many people speak, and afterwards an earthquake strikes the island. Several people die because of it.

The Lions lead a military expidition to Orlagnon. Many from Armengar go as well and help in defeating the Unliving there.

At the Heartland Games the Emperor once again demands that the Armengarians join his Empire or face his Legions. Negotiations begin to plan for after the Gathering of Nations when the current agreement of the split isle runs out. The Governor of Lower Amnor and Imperial Ambassador to the Lions, Brusius Aurelius, is introduced to the Lions.

The Lawkeeper Cosaint wins the Bardic Entertainers Competition.

While engaged in training activities, and with most of the people of Armengar outside the Citadel, the Conclave of Elder Races attack and occupy the Citadel. Those who were in the Citadel at the time are butchered and thrown over the walls.

While plans are made to retake the city, many people of Armengar take up a more permanent residence on Rysarius with no idea how long the crisis may last.

At the Gathering of Nations Diedrac leads a hundred strong army against the gates of Armengar, distracting the Conclave from a stealth party sent inside of Armengar itself. They fight bravely and manage not to lose a single person in the fight. Meanwhile the stealth group meet the Fae that was bound to the city by the Empire. He claims to be the father of Alvar, Coircre and Ameirgin, with Caillte being their mother. In order to stop the Conclave using the citadel for it's intended purpose (bringing on a cataslysm with only those within the city surviving), Caillte kills the Fae and the Walls of Armengar collapse. A magical pulse is felt around Edreja with many magical items ceasing to work.

Felix, the cause of so many problems to the Armengarians, Tribe and Lions, is finally caught and justice served upon him.

With the citadel in ruins most of the people of Armengar return to what is left of their home. Some stay on the colony on Rysarius. The Empire and Conclave no longer seem interested in Amnor with the Citadel destroyed. Caoimhe attempts to resign as Protector, but by popular acclamation stays on. She does however resign from the military and becomes the first civilian Protector.

1105

The Wayward Flame on Rysarius had not been seen since Alvar questioned it. It returned after interacting with Cosaint, but was noticably different than before. A witchweed clone of Dillon's wife appeared on Rysarius causing much panic that someone who had been dead for seven years had suddenly come back to life.

While fighting against the forces of Benedict Darkendale on Rysarius, many Armengarians fall including Ameirgin, last of the Amnorian Fae still walking the isles. Caoimhe is killed in battle and the Armengarians are once again left without a Protector.

At the Heartland Games an extraordinary Volksraad is called, with the Lawkeeper not in attendance. Cormac is voted in as the new Protector and he starts to make sweeping changes. The Volskraad agrees that Cosaint can no longer be Lawkeeper with his new responsibilities as a Leader of the Bards Guild and rather than wait for him to resign, they replace him with Ajax. Cormac tells the Volksraad of his mission to discover who the Firrine were and how he came to admire their ideals if not their methods. He tells of how he took command of the Firinne who now walk openly amongst the Armengarians.

Cormac institutes loyalty tests and the Volskraad agree that as citizenship can be given, then so must it be allowed to be taken away. Many armengarians are asked where their first loyalties lie, those that do not answer 'armengar' are asked not to attend future Volskraads.

Cormac appoints Fionnuala as Governor of the civilians in Armengar and reorganises the military. Fionnuala steps down as High Incantor and gives the position to Tadgh. Dillon and Amos mysteriously dissapear.
